Consular Protection and Emergency

The Embassy of Honduras in the Republic of Korea provides consular assistance and protection to Honduran citizens facing emergencies, situations of vulnerability, or circumstances requiring official consular intervention. In accordance with consular regulations, consular protection services are mandatory, immediate, and free of charge, regardless of the immigration status of the Honduran citizen receiving assistance.

Who May Request Assistance?

This service is intended for Honduran citizens in the Republic of Korea who are facing detention, hospitalization, serious accidents, the death of a family member, violence, human trafficking, extreme vulnerability, migration-related crises, or any situation requiring urgent consular intervention.

Situations in Which the Embassy May Intervene

Detentions or arrests.
Hospitalizations or serious accidents.
Deaths and repatriation of remains.
Situations involving violence or human trafficking.
Cases of social, economic, or migration-related vulnerability.
Cases involving minors, older adults, or persons in particularly vulnerable situations.

General Response Procedure

The Embassy receives notification of the case from the affected individual, a family member, an authority, or a third party.
The identity of the Honduran citizen and the nature of the emergency are verified.
The Consular Section activates an immediate response and coordinates, as appropriate, with Korean authorities, family members, hospitals, detention facilities, or other relevant institutions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Honduras is informed, and a consular case file is opened and documented.
Follow-up assistance is provided until the situation is stabilized or the case is formally closed.

Important Information

The Embassy may coordinate with the Korean National Police Agency, emergency medical services, the Korea Immigration Service, Korea Legal Aid Corporation, and other relevant institutions when necessary.

Is consular protection subject to a fee? No. Consular protection services are provided free of charge.

Can the Embassy secure the release of someone from jail? No. The Embassy may provide consular assistance, verify the individual's welfare, offer guidance, and coordinate support, but it cannot interfere with judicial or legal decisions made by local authorities.

Can the Embassy assist someone in a hospital? Yes. The Embassy may help coordinate basic assistance, facilitate communication with family members, and provide institutional follow-up.

What should I do if the emergency occurs outside office hours? You should immediately contact the Embassy's emergency consular channel and, if there is an immediate risk to life or safety, also contact the appropriate Korean emergency services without delay.
